Deadline Knitting

I started this Baby J sweater on Friday and finished it today with 40 minutes to spare before the baby shower for which this was made. I breezed into my LYS last Wednesday evening, right as they were ready to close, and bought the yarn. I cast on the project on Friday morning and have done nothing but knit since then. Yesterday, I realized that I still needed buttons, so I went back to the LYS on my way home from work and found these little cuties. Then it was back home to knit knit knit until I finished around 11:00 p.m. I handwashed it and blocked it before I went to bed at 11:30. This morning, I got up early so that I could sew on the buttons before I left for work only to realize that I didn't have the right color thread. Of course, the sweater wasn't dry yet either, but, since it turned out a little too big anyway, I tossed it in the dryer. It came out the perfect size. (Better to be lucky than smart!) I swung into Wal-mart on my way to work, picked up the thread I needed, and sewed on the buttons during my break.
Whew! I don't know why I do this to myself, but this hasn't been the first time I've done something like this and I know I'm not the only one out there. Anyone have any last-minute-to-spare stories?

No matter when it was finished the sweater is adorable! I'd wear it in a heartbeat if I could squeeze myself into it. ;)

I don't do a lot of gift knitting so I'm usually not on a deadline with it, but the rest of my life is always pushing the limit.

Thanks!

My whole life is "pushing the limit". One of these days, I'll get my act together (or not!).

That is adorable! I can't believe you did it in a just a few days!

I can't tell you how many Girl Scout meetings I've planned in my head during the drive home from work. Stopping along the way for supplies and arriving at 5:59. It's always a mad dash!

LeAnn the Baby J turned out beautifully! I love the way the striping of the yarn worked on this pattern. I am still in awe of your loooonnnnng Christmas knit list.
