Resurrection and Renewal

On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, "Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.' "

--Luke 24:1-7

I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

--John 10:10

Spring is all about renewal, rebirth, resurrection. I stepped outside early this morning and smelled the cool crisp air, listened to the birds signing, and saw those pink-tinged clouds I love so much scattered across that beautiful clear blue sky. Mornings like this are vivid reminders that He loves me, that He loves all of us -- enough to do whatever it takes to reconcile us to Him. Over 2000 years ago, Christ became a man to teach us how to live and love, to stand in our place and take our punishment, and rise again. Because of His love, each new day can be like the first day of Spring for me. I am a new creation. The old is gone, the new has come. I am bewildered, stunned, grateful, whenever I consider this.

See! The winter is past;
the rains are over and gone.
Flowers appear on the earth;
the season of singing has come
--Song of Solomon 2:10-12
