Merry Day After Christmas!
I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas. We enjoyed a nice visit with my folks who drove down from Louisville on the 23rd and stayed until this morning. We had snow, cold temperatures, and lots of down time just to "be".
We also had presents, and lots of them:
(Seems that Rosco's ear is making a cameo appearance in this photo.)
The kids were up at 5:10 a.m. The grandparents got to sleep in until 7:00-ish. Papaw appeared first, fully dressed and ready for the day, as always:
Granny followed a bit later, still in her nightclothes, as most of us were for the greater part of the day:
Our chef made us a light breakfast of finger foods. Why does he always have a guilty look on his face?
The calm before the storm:
In the midst of the Tempest:
What did I get, you ask? Among other things, some great silver fleur de lis earrings, Bath & Body Works Dancing Waters shower gel, Keith Urban Get Closer CD, Haus of Yarn gift certificate, and what's that at the top of the picture??

Time to swing to the tunes from her iPod, wearing her new Cookie Monsters.

Addi Clicks! Yes! My very first Addis and I got a whole set of interchangeable circulars! Hub pays attention to me more than I realize. He knows I'd never splurge on these for myself, but he's heard me mention them before (and I wasn't even hinting!).
So what does any self-respecting yarn addict do when she has brand new Addis? Why, cast on a new project, of course! These are Duffers. They're only 19 rows! 19 rows, people! I started them last night and finished them this morning.
Pre-felting:
(My original model wouldn't cooperate for the "after" picture.)
God bless!

You Get What You Pay For
I'm snowed in today, so I've been searching for something new to cast on. I am a big fan of free patterns. However, sometimes, you get what you pay for:
Poor little fella:
And finally, the Footsie Pillow, a/k/a Accident Waiting to Happen:
Poor little fella:
I call this the Lady Gaga meat sweater. I believe that is supposed to be a squirrel, but it looks like a steak to me.
And this????
(Get your minds out of the gutter -- it's a golf club head cozy. What were you thinking?)

Light
The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.
--Isaiah 9:2
As I try to adjust my focus this year on why we celebrate this season, I invite you to join us at Cross Point Community Church as we remember and celebrate the coming of the Light of the World.
I pray that we all put aside ourselves and reflect His light this season.
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
